Kyushu University English and Entrepreneurship Program (QE+EP)

QE+EP

QE+EP (Kyushu University English and Entrepreneurship Program) is a unique program jointly planned and implemented by Kyushu University and the Kyushu University California Office, Inc. (CA Office). The program is held in Silicon Valley, a center for new business creation, and participants of the program receive both high quality English and entrepreneurship training.

The study of English is of course a necessary condition for survival in a global society and has become a driving force for globalization in Japan; however, much more remains to be done. Using English to effectively communicate one’s ideas with many people is a gateway to becoming a global human resource and, as such, for entering the competitive global stage. Silicon Valley, a source of continuous innovation by multiethnic entrepreneurs and the epitome of a global society, is a special place for young people who have the drive to spread their wings in the world.

As part of the program, participants will not only enjoy customized English training but also take special seminars offered by leading engineers, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. The program offers site visits to global companies, innovative commercial start-ups, and top-level universities; home stays; and exchange programs with American students. In addition, participants not only strengthen their English skills but learn to function and succeed in a global society through significant interactions with a variety of people, thus inspiring deeper thinking about their own future.

The venue for the program is International Gateways, located on the campus of our partner university, San Jose State University, and also close to the CA Office. Located in the center of Silicon Valley, San Jose State University has been providing talented engineers for decades. San Jose is one of the ten top 10 cities for international business in North America, offering a safe and extremely pleasant environment—with sunshine and blue skies 300 days of the year. Participants will also benefit from the advice and capable support of the CA Office staff in their study and activities.

The following four programs are prepared for use by students from different departments.
