DEGREE PROGRAMS in English

1. Browsing through this website, I've come across the phrase "International Program" a number of times. What exactly is it?

It's a program in which degrees can be completed using only English, in all English language classrooms, with English language materials. No Japanese language at all is needed to obtain a degree.

2. May I apply for more than one program or school at Kyushu University?

You may apply for only one undergraduate program at a time. For graduate programs, please contact the school you are interested in. Click HERE for contact info.

3. Can I make alterations or add information to the application that has already been submitted?

No. Once documents have been submitted, they cannot be altered.

6. Does Kyushu University offer extra Japanese language lessons for international students?

Yes.  We offer additional Japanese language classes for international students at the International Student Center (ISC). The ISC provides elementary to advanced level lessons for international students at almost all Kyushu University campuses. For details, click HERE.

7. What kind of extra-curricular activities are there at Kyushu University?

8. How many international students are there at Kyushu University?

There are 2,089 overseas students from 92 different countries studying at Kyushu University as of May 1, 2016. They constitute about 11% of our entire student body.

9. How much is the tuition?

For international undergraduate programs, the tuition is 133,950 Japanese yen per semester, half the amount required for Japanese undergraduate programs (i.e., 267,900 yen) for the academic year 2016-2017. For graduate programs, it is 267,900 Japanese yen per semester, though there may be some exceptions. Contact the school you are interested in to obtain the exact figure. 10. Is there any financial aid available for international students?

There is a scholarship established specifically for international undergraduate programs.  For more information, click HERE.  For graduate students, there are a range of scholarships offered by both public and private institutions.

11. How much does it cost to live in Fukuoka?

Due to lower consumer prices, living expenses are low in Fukuoka compared to other major cities like Tokyo and Osaka. Still, you should be prepared to spend between 80,000 yen and 120,000 yen per month, depending on your personal taste and circumstances.

12. Are dormitories available?

Yes. There are dormitories on and around the campuses. If there aren't any vacancies, the International Student and Researcher Support Center will help you find a place to stay. Click HERE for more information regarding dorms.

13. Can I get a part time job?

14. Can I work in Japan after I graduate?

For most jobs in Japan, you will need business level Japanese to even be considered as a viable candidate. We will support you in any way we can to help you get a job here by offering career workshops and business Japanese lessons, by sponsoring career fairs, by inviting corporate speakers, and by providing internship opportunities.
