About Kyushu University

Founded in 1911 as one of the seven imperial universities in Japan, Kyushu University has been a leader in education and research not just in Japan but throughout Asia. In 2015, it has the total student population of 19,308, of which over 10% are international students, with its faculty boasting roughly 2,200 full-time members. Comprehensive in its academic reach, it has 11 undergraduate departments and 18 graduate schools with their affiliate research centers. But the university's main strengths lie in particularly active and innovative science programs, as is shown by the fact that it runs one of the most highly regarded and advanced medical schools in Asia.

The University is conveniently located in Fukuoka, which was ranked 12th most livable city in the world(Monocle Magazine Quality of life Survey 2015 June).

The University is currently in the process of relocating to the new state-of-the-art campus, which will, upon completion, make the university quite unrivaled in Asia in terms of advanced research facilities.
