Silicon Valley English Program（SVEP）2015
Silicon Valley English Program or SVEP is the original program created by Kyushu University CA Office, Inc. (KUCAO) and sponsored by International Office of Kyushu University and KUCAO. SVEP has been held in San Jose, California, or Silicon Valley, referred to by many as the Center of Innovation. This program is unique in the sense that participants are given a chance to study English handling capabilities, as well as innovation and entrepreneurship spirits at the same time. In order to survive in the global society and become a driving force in globalization waves in Japan, it is urged that not only English handling capabilities but also skills to communicate and live together with many people in the world are required. Silicon Valley where multi-ethnic entrepreneurs gather and repeated innovation keeps on occurring is the best place for young people to study innovation and entrepreneurship. Under the program, we provide participants with customized English study programs; special lectures by business leaders, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists; field trips to innovative companies, start-ups, and world class universities; homestays with local families; and many activities with American students. Participants can learn how to live successfully in global communities and get opportunities to think about their future, triggered by meeting people with many different ways of living.
SVEP will be held at International Gateways of San Jose State University (SJSU), one of our partner universities located in San Jose, CA, close to the office of KUCAO. It is well known to provide many talented engineers and business persons to companies in Silicon Valley. San Jose is names as the capital of Silicon Valley and is one of the top 10 cities in global business in North America. San Jose is recognized as one of the most safe cities in the US, bears more than 300 sunny days in a year and is ranked at one of the top cities where everybody prefers to live. During the program, staff of KUCAO will support the participants during their studies and livings for 24 hours. We are very much welcoming your challenge to participate to the SVEP.
Applicant should be the student of Kyushu University.
Number of Participants
45 participants will be selected through the screening process based on essay and GPA.
The program duration is August 22, 2015 to September 20, 2015

Homestay with local families, which includes breakfast and dinner.
Approximately $4,600 including airfare, tuition, and homestay fee. Exact amount will be announced later.
