Strategic Partnership<\/em><\/h2>\r\n\r\n
\r\nAs part of VISION 2030, Kyushu University<\/a><\/u> is committed to VISION 6: \u201cInternational Collaboration,\u201d aiming to become a global hub for the circulation of international talent through institution-level partnerships. To advance this goal, the university has established Strategic Partnerships that go beyond traditional university-wide agreements, fostering deeper educational and research collaboration with selected leading institutions around the world.\r\n<\/p><\/div>\r\n\r\n
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) since 2019<\/em><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n $\"\"$ <\/center>
\r\n
\r\nThis strategic partnership builds on a strong foundation of long-standing academic exchange between the two universities, led by the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (WPI-I\u00b2CNER). It also reflects the achievements and promising future of student mobility between the institutions.
\r\nTogether, the universities have identified five priority research areas, where joint projects are actively being promoted through matching funds:

\r\n1.Data Science and Data Management Curation (including Mathematics)
\r\n2.Environmental Economics
\r\n3.Humanities
\r\n4.Library Science
\r\n5.Smart Grid and Sustainable Energy
\r\n
\r\nIn addition to these core fields, new collaborative initiatives have recently begun in the areas of medicine and agriculture, further expanding the scope of this dynamic partnership.\r\n

National Taiwan University (NTU) since 2023<\/em><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n $\"\"$ <\/center>\r\n

\r\nSince 2001, Kyushu University and NTU have actively promoted university-wide student exchange programs. In addition, the university libraries have engaged in collaborative research activities under an academic exchange agreement signed in 2009.
\r\nDespite the challenges of the global pandemic, both universities successfully co-hosted the \u201cNTU-Kyushu Colloquium\u201d in 2019 and 2020, demonstrating their strong commitment to academic collaboration. The current strategic partnership builds upon these longstanding efforts and shared achievements.
\r\nFurther expanding their international engagement, the two universities have also taken a leading role in fostering collaboration between national universities in the Kyushu-Okinawa region (KOOU) and the universities in Taiwan (UAAT) since 2023.

Trilateral University Alliance – UNIQ<\/em><\/h3>\r\n
\r\nOn February 19, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Trilateral University Center was signed at National Taiwan University (NTU), marking a significant milestone in international academic collaboration. This form of multilateral partnership\u2014bringing together multiple strategic partner universities\u2014is still rare globally, even as strategic alliances continue to grow as a worldwide trend.
\r\nIn November 2024, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) hosted a workshop on sustainability in metropolitan areas, welcoming around 30 researchers from the three universities. Participants exchanged insights on pressing urban environmental challenges, including climate change. The workshop served as a catalyst for future joint research initiatives and collaborative efforts to secure research funding.
\r\nKyushu University remains committed to strengthening this partnership by promoting educational and research exchange through workshops, seed funding projects, and other collaborative activities.
