{"id":36860,"date":"2026-05-14T15:19:26","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T06:19:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.isc.kyushu-u.ac.jp\/intlweb\/admission\/research-students-university-recommendation"},"modified":"2026-05-21T11:54:35","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T02:54:35","slug":"research-students-university-recommendation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.isc.kyushu-u.ac.jp\/intlweb\/en\/admission\/research-students-university-recommendation","title":{"rendered":"Research Students (University Recommendation)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"contentsWrap page1column\">\r\n<section class=\"contentsBox\">\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"sttl02\"><em>Research Students (University Recommendation)<\/em><\/h3>\r\nUniversity Recommendation is a system through which our university nominates candidates to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).<br \/>\r\nFor research students applying through university recommendation, there are three categories: the General Category, the Special Program Category, and the \u201cStrengthening the Network Functions for Promoting Study in Japan\u201d Category, which is limited to students from the North Africa and Middle East regions.\r\n<br \/>\r\n<h4 class=\"sttl03\"><em>General Category\/Strengthening the Network Functions for Promoting Study in Japan Category<\/em><\/h4>\r\n\r\nIf you wish to be recommended under the \u201cGeneral\u201d category, please contact <u><a href=\"https:\/\/isc.kyushu-u.ac.jp\/invitation\/contact\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Student Affairs Division of your respective graduate school. <\/a><\/u>Each graduate school will handle the recruitment and selection process to determine the candidates to be recommended by the university. Those selected as candidates will be recommended by the university to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), which will select the final recipients in mid-June (tentative). (Therefore, even if you are recommended by the university, there is no guarantee that you will be selected.) The departure for Japan is normally scheduled for the end of September.\u3000<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\n<h4 class=\"sttl03\"><em>Special Program<\/em><\/h4>\r\nFor \u201cSpecial Program\u201d category, each of the following programs accepts applications and conduct the screening respectively. See the admission schedule and selection method on the website of the program, and contact them directly for any inquiries. The selected candidates are recommended to MEXT from the university, and MEXT conducts a screening and selects scholarship grantees at the end of June (tentative).
