Application  Applications Application Requirements Eligible Applicants: UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS or GRADUATE STUDENTS enrolled at foreign universities who possess high standards of academic performance (GPA score of 3.2 out of 4.0 or more in principle), are fluent in English (TOEFL score of 550 or more in principle, if you are a non-native speaker) and will continue their studies at their home universities after finishing the ATW program. Essay (FORM 3) All applicants must submit by regular mail or e-mail Title : Why I want to join ATW? (800 to 1000 words) Language Proficiency Certificate (Copy) TOEFL or IELTS score for non-native English speakers All applicants must submit by regular mail. A scanned copy can be accepted by e-mail. Completed Statement of English Proficiency FORM 4 If you have studied in English for more than two years, you need not submit a TOEFL/IELTS score sheet. Instead, submit a letter certifying your proficiency in English including a short description of the classes taken. This form can be submitted by regular mail or e-mail. Diploma (Copy) Only postgraduate students must submit by regular mail or e-mail. Details of the secondary application will be informed to successful candidates by e-mail. All successful candidates are asked to submit the following forms and one passport size digital photo by the deadline set by the ATW Office. The ATW Office will inform the deadline to successful candidate in due course. Forms can be sent to the ATW Office by Email or fax and a digital photo by e-mail Registration for courses and study Trips Application for accommodation Application for homestay A passport-size degital photo Flight information Confirmation for travel insurance Arriving Fukuoka: All ATW students will be asked to arrive at Fukuoka on 23 Jun (Sun) and 24 June (Mon). Accommodation will be ready from 23 June. Airport pickup by ATW can be offered for free of charge. Leaving Fukuoka: ATW regards your participation throughout the program, from ATW Opening Ceremony on 25 June to Closing Ceremony on 8 August as essential. Therefore, ATW will ask you NOT to leave Fukouka before the program completed nor to be absent without authority of ATW during the program term. The opening ceremony will start from 10.00AM on 5 June and the closing ceremony will be from 1:15PM to 2:30PM followed by a farewell party. Please refer to ATW Regulations for Participation. Travel Insurance: Your stay in Japan is not long enough to buy any Japanese insurance or to receive any medical fee support for international students. Therefore, you are required to take out any insurance in your own country before you come to Kyushu University. As soon as you have bought insurance, please send a copy of the insurance policy along with Confirmation Form of Insurance. Kyushu University shall not bear any responsibility for costs caused by illness, injury and/or death of the students and any other damage that may occur as a result of accident, disaster, or other unexpected circumstances.  Accommodation More information of accommodation for ATW 2013.    Costs & Fees Fees  (*All fees mentioned below are subject to change.) Tuition and program fees 90,800 JPY for taking 3 courses (6 credits), which is the requirement for completing the ATW program. Accommodation fees Estimated costs for staying in a furnished apartment: (5 weeks) 100,000JPY (including room charge and utility expenses) (7 weeks) 144,000JPY (including room charge and utility expenses) Estimated costs for staying in an off-campus dormitory: (5 weeks) 60,000-78,000 JPY (including room charge, utility expenses and meals*) (7 weeks) 87,000-106,000 JPY (including room charge, utility expenses and meals*) *Two meals (breakfast and dinner) are offered everyday except Sundays and Japanese National holidays. Estimated costs for home stay: (2 weeks) about 45,000 JPY (including lodging and meals**) (7 weeks) about 130,000 JPY (including lodging and meals**) **Two meals (breakfast and dinner) are offered for weekdays, while lunch is offered in addition to those two meals on weekends when there is no official class of ATW. Study trip fees Several study trips will be held during the program for your option. Each excursion is planned in the expectation that students are able to experience some part of Japanese culture and the Japanese esthetic sense. The following study trips are planned to be held. Personal expenses and expensese for a round-trip airline ticket are not included in the costs mentioned above. If you live in a furnished apartment, breakfast and dinner cost should be added to this estimating costs. Payment of the fees Payment of tuition, accommodation fees, study trip fees will be accepted in cash after arriving the University or by overseas remittance to our bank. All payments must be made in Japanese yen. Any check will NOT be accepted. If you would like to pay through overseas remittance (bank transfer), you are asked to pay at least one month before ATW starts. Please consult the ATW Office for more information. In case of paying through overseas remittance, You must pay in Japanese yen. Any bank charges (including a 2,500 yen Japanese bank charge) must be met by the participant. A deposit of 5,000 yen must be included in the payment. If your payment is less than the amount we required due to fluctuations in the exchange rate or any other reasons, the shortage will be paid from your deposit and the remainder will be refunded when you arrive in Japan. In case of cancellation, tuition, study trip and accommodation fees will be fully refunded. Any bank charges associated with the overseasl remittance to refund the fees will be paid from the deposit of 5,000 yen.
