Japan-Sweden MIRAI Global Challenges Winter School for PhD students [Application by Aug.8]
MIRAI is a network for academic collaboration between 17 Japanese and Swedish universities. With the seven-year experience, the 3rd phase of MIRAI started in January 2024. This new phase is designed to engage researchers in a wide range of disciplines with the following four priority areas linked to the SDGs. Both face-to-face and online opportunities are provided.
1)Health and an ageing population (UN-SDG #3)
2)Climate adaptation, disaster and risk management and prevention (UN-SDG #13)
3)Resilient cities and communities (UN-SDG #11)
4)Materials for energy conversion and storage (UN-SDG #7)

MIRAI Global Challenges Winter School is an onsite program which will be held between 17-22 November, at Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) in Stockholm, Sweden.
Kyushu University aims to use this opportunity to develop early career researchers (ECRs) and strongly invites PhD students to participate in this program.
Eligibility at Kyushu University:
Those who fulfil all the followings 1) to 3).
1)Enrolled in a PhD course at Kyushu University during the program period.
2)The current research fields must be related to one of the priority areas (see above) in MIRAI.
3)Good motivation to communicate with other participant, expand own network and contribute to further MIRAI activities. The program will be provided in English.
*The MIRAI’s “Call for Participation” indicates that program is open to "PhD students or Postdocs", but Kyushu University defines only PhD students due to its internal budget regulations.
