Inter-University Exchange Project
The Inter-University Exchange Project initiative, aimed to nurture global human resources who aim to work on the international stage and strengthen the global development of university education while assuring the quality of higher education is a series of projects launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in FY2011 for the purpose of providing financial support for efforts on the formation of collaborative programs with universities in designated countries and regions that conduct study abroad programs for Japanese students and accepting foreign students.

2)Promoting International Joint Research
Bilateral Joint Research Projects/Seminars
This program aims to form a sustainable network of bilateral research teams (promotion of personal exchange). Funding is provided for joint research and seminars conducted in cooperation with researchers in the counterpart country.
There are two types of programs: Type A, which is based on an agreement between the JSPS and the counterpart institution in the partner country, and Type B (open partnership type), which is open to all countries that have diplomatic relations with Japan.

Core-to-Core Program
Multilateral exchanges: Plan and implement (1) joint research, (2) seminars, and (3) researcher exchanges in three or more countries. There are two types: Type A, which is based on matching funds with developed countries, and Type B, which forms a base in Asia and Africa. 18 million x 5 years (maximum) for Type A, and 8 million x 3 years (maximum) for Type B.

Joint Research Program
In order to respond to the global development of academic research activities, this program aims to promote joint research conducted by outstanding researchers from Japanese universities and other institutions in cooperation with overseas researchers in collaboration with overseas academic promotion organizations, as well as to foster young researchers by providing them with enhanced opportunities for study and research.

A3 Foresight Program
This project aims to build a world-class research hub in Asia, with the three countries at its core, through collaboration among research institutions in Japan, China, and Korea to conduct world-class academic research, research that contributes to solving issues common to the region, and the training of young researchers.

Sakura Science Plan
The Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), an independent administrative agency, through close collaboration between industry, academia, and government, provides opportunities for talented young people from overseas countries and regions to experience Japan’s cutting-edge science and technology.
Through this science and technology exchange program, JST aims to (1) foster and secure excellent human resources who can contribute to science and technology innovation and to promote continuous exchange, (2) globalize Japanese educational and research institutions, (3) strengthen friendly relations between Japan and foreign countries and regions, and ultimately contribute to the development of science, technology and innovation in Japan and the world.
The purpose of the program is to contribute to the development of science, technology, and innovation in Japan and around the world.

KUSANONE Project
International cooperation activities conducted by Japanese NGOs/CSOs, other private organizations, local governments, or universities with a will to cooperate in the economic and social development or reconstruction of a developing country, regardless of their own interests, for the purpose of assisting the residents of that region.

SATREPS
The Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) collaborate to promote international joint research with developing countries on global-scale issues, with the aim of acquiring new knowledge and technologies that will lead to solutions to global-scale issues and improvement of the level of science and technology in cooperation with research institutions in partner countries. The purpose of this program is to promote international joint research with developing countries on global-scale issues.

3)Fellowships for Japanese
Overseas Research Fellowships
To foster highly capable researchers with wide international perspectives, this fellowship gives excellent young Japanese researchers an opportunity to carry out long-term research at an overseas university or research institution.
Overseas Research Fellowships―Restart Research Abroad (RRA) is launched in FY 2016. Young Japanese researchers who have suspended their research activities due to life event (marriage, childbirth, child raising, nursing and caregiving) are eligible to apply for an RRA fellowship.

5)Providing International Training Opportunities
FRONTIERS OF SCIENCE
JSPS supports Frontiers of Science (FoS) symposia that provide a platform for talented young researchers (up to 45 years of age) to engage in cross-disciplinary discussions on leading edge scientific topics. The symposia aim to contribute to the development of new academic disciplines and the fostering of future generations of leaders.

Young Researcher Support for Attending Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) supports young Japanese researchers to participate in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, co-hosted by the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and the Foundation Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings at Lake Constance. The purpose of this Program is to foster highly talented Japanese researchers with a rich global view and experience for the future of Japanese academia.
