【Call for Contributions】Case studies: Generative AI in Education — Opportunities, Challenges and Future Directions in Asia and the Pacific

The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), a network of 60 leading universities linking the Americas, Asia and Australasia, is now call for contribution of short institutional case studies in Generative AI in Education — Opportunities, Challenges and Future Directions in Asia and the Pacific to the faculty and staff, who are engaged in activities to integrate generative AI tools into education programs (e.g., teaching, learning, assessment) or institutional activities and services including but not limited to student support, academic advising, admissions, and internal or external communications.

The use of such AI systems in higher education has quickly risen to global attention, as they offer an intriguing combination of opportunities to support and enhance learning and the student experience, whilst at the same time raising major concerns around academic integrity, privacy, bias and ethics of use. Understanding how institutions are responding across the wide range of APRU members will support future strategy and planning in this space.

The current project is a collaboration between APRU and Microsoft, that aims to map a baseline snapshot of adoption of generative AI tools across APRU institutions, as well as identify specific needs and knowledge gaps that can be addressed in future phases of the work.

This upcoming call for contributions of short case studies is aimed specifically at academics and staff across your institution who are already engaged in activities supporting the integration, uptake and use of these generative AI tools in any areas of the university (with the exception of pure or applied research activities).

Please see the attached specifics of this call, detailing areas in scope for case study contributions by the participants, the project timeline, and eligibility. If you are interested to contribute to the project, please complete case study contributions using the attached Case Study Contribution Template by November 6, 2023, with submissions returned to the APRU Secretariat (benjamin.zhou@apru.org) by E-mail.
