Japan-UK RENKEI Researcher Workshop in Health 2024 for PhD students [Application by Oct.11]
RENKEI (the Japan-UK Research and Education Network for Knowledge Economy Initiatives) is a kind of consortium of 10 universities in the UK and Japan that promotes academic collaboration.
In the RENKEI current phase (2nd phase: 2018-2025), the priority research themes are 'Climate Change' and 'Health', and joint research projects are being developed by researchers from both countries. Kyushu University has been a member of RENKEI since its foundation.

This researcher workshop is an onsite program which will be held between 1-3 December, at Keio University's Tsuruoka Town Campus (Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture).
Kyushu University aims to use this opportunity to develop early career researchers (ECRs) and strongly invites PhD students to participate in this program.
Eligibility at Kyushu University:
Those who fulfil all the followings 1) to 3).
1)Enrolled in a PhD course at Kyushu University during this workshop period, and as of April 1 2025.
2)The current research fields must be related to one of the priority themes in this workshop below.
I.Healthy diets: eating for longevity -Research on diet and life expectancy
II.Holistic wellbeing: mental health, exercise, behaviour and lifestyle -Research on behavioural patterns, habits, mental health, exercise and their relationship to health.
III.Breakthroughs in health technologies -Broadly examining research on new technologies and healthcare
IV.Community-based medical research -Research on community-based healthcare such as the Tsuruoka Mirai Health Survey (“Tsuruoka Metabolomics Cohort Study”)
3)Good motivation to communicate with other participant, expand own network and contribute to further RENKEI activities. The workshop program will be provided in English.
*The RENKEI’s “Call for Participating Researchers” indicates that program is open to "ECRs, mid-career and senior", but Kyushu University defines only PhD students as participants this time, due to its internal policy and budget regulations.
Number of Successful Applicants:
Around 4 students. To be decided after an internal selection process.
