九州大学留学課では、2024年1月22日(月)の5限に伊都地区センター2号館2303教室で、留学に興味がある学生と留学を経験した学生が交流することを目的に、海外留学ピアアドバイザー企画により、留学相談ネットワーキングイベントを開催しました。

本イベントでは、興味がある、留学したい地域・留学経験のある地域ごとに分かれて、トークテーマなどを細かく設定せずに、学生が聞きたいことを自由に質問し合いました。留学をしたことのある学生が、留学を考えている学生に向けて、現地での生活や、留学までに必要だった準備などについて、生の声を届けてくれました。具体的な会話の内容としては、実際に留学先を決めた経緯、留学までのスケジュールの組み方、授業の取り方、留学と大学院入学試験や就職活動との両立などが挙げられます。また、地域ごとに分かれて交流したことで、来年度同じ大学へ留学予定の学生が知り合う場にもなりました。学生同士承諾の元、連絡先を活発に交換しており、留学というテーマを通して、学生が繋がれる良いきっかけ作りになりました。

イベント終了後にも沢山の学生がピアドバイザーのもとへ質問に来るなど、留学についての強い興味が感じられました。実際に、イベント終了後に実施したアンケートでは、「自分の留学したい地域に留学した先輩に質問できて良かった」、「不安が解消された」など肯定的な意見が多かったです。さらに、9割以上の参加者が、このイベントについて「とても良かった・良かった」と評価しており、効果的なネットワーキングイベントになりました。

第1回大学間交換留学の募集は終了しましたが、今後もさらに多くの学生が留学に興味を持ってくれるよう、留学の魅力を発信するイベントの企画、学生に寄り添う留学相談に尽力します。

The Study Abroad Division of Kyushu University held a study abroad consultation networking event on January 22 (Mon.), 2024, during 5th period in Room 2303, Building 2, Ito Regional Center, organized by peer advisors for study abroad with the aim of bringing together students who are interested in studying abroad with students who have studied abroad

At this event, students were divided into groups according to the regions in which they were interested in or had experience studying abroad, and they had conversations freely about what they wanted to ask, without setting detailed talk topics. Students who have studied abroad provided impressions about the life as an exchange student and the preparations necessary before studying abroad. Specific topics of conversations were how to decide the destination and university, how to plan, how to register classes, and how to balance study abroad with job hunting and so on. Because groups were made depend on region, it became an opportunity for students who plan to study abroad at the same university next year to get to know each other. Students actively exchanged contact with their consent. Therefore, it can be said that it was a good opportunity for students to connect with each other through the theme of study abroad.

After the event, many students came to ask questions to the peer advisors, showing their strong interest in studying abroad. In fact, in a survey conducted after the event, many positive comments were received, such as "It was good to be able to ask questions to seniors who have studied abroad in the area I want to study," and "My anxiety was relieved.” Furthermore, more than 90% of participants rated the event as "very good/good," making it an effective networking event.

Although the application period for the first Inter-University Exchange Program has ended, we will continue to make every effort to plan events that promote the appeal of study abroad and provide study abroad counseling that is close to students so that even more students will become interested in studying abroad in the future.
