九州大学留学課では、2024年12月2日にセンター6号館一階で、Q-MATE企画による留学促進イベント「九大生×留学生 Study Abroad Networking Event!!!」を開催しました。このイベントは、外国人留学生との交流を通して、留学を考えている九大生に留学先の国や大学について知ってもらう目的で行われました。
始めに外国人留学生から自身の留学についてプレゼンテーションが行われた後、留学生と九大生の交流会が行われました。座談会では留学先地域ごとにヨーロッパ、アジア・オセアニア、アメリカの３つのテーブルに分かれました。
座談会では話すテーマに細かい制約はなく、参加した学生は自由で活発な会話を行っていました。各テーブルでは、留学を希望している学生が留学生に当該地域・大学の特徴、食文化、気を付けるべきことなどを積極的に質問する様子が見られました。九大生からの質問に対して留学生も意欲的に応じており、イベントは和気藹々とした雰囲気で進行していました。また座談会の途中にテーブルを移動する時間を設け、様々な地域出身の留学生とコミュニケーションを取れるようにしたことで、それまで関心の薄かった地域にも視野が広がるきっかけとなりました。
第1回大学間交換留学の募集は終了しましたが、今後もイベントや留学相談を通して、
留学を考えている学生に寄り添った活動を行っていきます。
The International Student Exchange Division of Kyushu University held a study abroad promotion event “Kyushu University Students×International Students Study Abroad Networking Event!!!” on the first floor of the Center 6 on December 2, 2024. The purpose of this event was to let prospective study abroad students learn more about the countries and universities where they will be studying abroad by interacting with international students.
First, an international student gave a presentation about her study abroad experience, followed by a meetup between international students and Japanese students. The students were divided into three tables, one for Europe, one for Asia/Oceania, and one for Americas.
There were no specific restrictions on the topics to be discussed at the meetup, and the participating students engaged in free and lively conversation. At each table, students who were interested in studying abroad actively asked international students questions about the characteristics of the region or university, food culture, and things to keep in mind. The international students responded enthusiastically to the questions from the Kyushu University students, and the event proceeded in a congenial atmosphere. In addition, by allowing time to move from one table to another during the meetup, the event provided an opportunity to communicate with international students from various regions and broaden their perspectives to regions in which they had previously shown little interest.
As a result of achieving the event's objectives, in a post-event questionnaire, participating Kyushu University students responded that they “felt less anxious about studying abroad,” “started to feel more realistic about studying abroad,” and “obtained a lot of useful information”. Furthermore, since most of the conversations were conducted in English throughout the event, several respondents said, “It was a good opportunity for me to speak English”. The event was a meaningful study abroad promotion event, with 67% of the survey respondents saying it was “very good” and 33% saying it was “good”.
Although the application period for the 1st Exchange Program has ended, we will continue to be close to students who are thinking of studying abroad through events and study abroad counseling.
